During my visit to Dubai i was very interested in learning everything about middle eastern cuisine and one of the things that caught my interest was the Arabic coffee and the coconut sweet balls.
It was a pleasant evening and after a long walk through the Heritage village I got thirsty and that’s when I came across a café and I learnt that they serve Arabic coffee. The seating of the place was just by the creek and that was so relaxing after all the walking around. The Arabic coffee is served in a metal jug and if you’re not a real coffee lover you will be done with just one cup. The jug gives at least four cups and is piping hot and refreshing.
The coffee is light and refreshing. It is not very strong but has the flavours of elaichi and cloves. It’s the sort of beverage that relaxes you and gives you instant energy. Served in elegant small cups, this coffee is a real treat for all those coffee lovers.
These tiny coconut sweets are given along with coffee. These sweets are made of coconut, sugar and elaichi powder and are delicious. They compliment the coffee perfectly and every time you sip the coffee after a bite of these sweets, it’s almost like it refreshes your taste buds.
The overall Arabic coffee experience is something that is out of this world and apart from its nutritional value it is a refreshing beverage and a must try if you’re ever in Dubai.
it was a cold morning in the month of November and the temperature dropped to 11 degrees and I was craving for some authentic dhaba food. To my luck we had stopped and it was breakfast time and I was hungry. When I got out of the bus and looked over I saw a dhaba and I was so excited. I was all geared up to try out some authentic food. So I went over and placed an order for aloo paratha and some piping hot masala chai. I could watch them make my order and that got me all the more excited. My order was out in minutes and I was all set to dig in. The aloo paratha was soft and delicious and loaded with lots of the potato filling, it was served with a big dollop of fresh butter and a side of yogurt. Once I started eating I couldn’t stop myself because the food was simple yet so satisfying. I took a sip of my hot masala chai and I felt the warmth from all the spices in it. With my first sip I was hit with the flavours of the elaichi and cloves and as I swallowed my throat felt the warmth from the dried ginger. It was simply the most amazing breakfast experience.
During the cold winters in Shimla, hot bread pakoras are the best street food. After all the shopping in the cold I got hungry real quick and I was looking for a quick bite that would warm me up. As I kept walking through the lanes of busy shops I found this small street food joint that was serving the famous aloo tiki and bread pakoras and unlike many other street food joints this place made every order from scratch. It looked delicious so I placed my order and in 10mins I was served. The pakoras were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a well seasoned potato filling and was served with a mint chutney that was spicy and a tamarind chutney that was sweet and tangy. It was hot and my first bite almost burnt my mouth but at the same it was the most delicious bread pakora I’ve ever had and it was one of those foods that kept me warm all through my shopping.
